MINIMIZING DOWNTIME

Frequent challenges include:

  • Lost production time
  • Lead time for permanent solutions
  • Vendor response time
  • Identifying proper interim equipment solution

THE CHALLENGE

Finding a rental equipment vendor with a prompt response time to keep production moving along.

THE SOLUTION

One of the greatest challenges companies face when in need of an interim equipment solution is in finding a rental vendor that can accommodate the need in a timely manner. This is particularly important in manufacturing, where a downed piece of equipment can lead to costly lost production time, which is exactly what one Texas-based manufacturing company was facing when they reached out to HOLT Industrial Rentals for a compressed air solution.

Prior to reaching out to HOLT Industrial Rentals, the manufacturing company had placed an equipment order with a well-known rental company; however, the delivery window was too long, and the equipment wouldn’t arrive in time to meet their urgent need. Upon receiving the call from the customer, the HOLT Industrial Rentals team asked some key questions to assess the customer situation and quickly determined that the other rental company was sending them the wrong equipment for the job.   HOLT Industrial Rentals promptly sent an expert technician to visit the manufacturing plant and determined that they needed a1550 oil-free air compressor.

Thanks to their rapid response time and thorough assessment process the HOLT Industrial Rentals team was able to provide the customer with the proper air compressor, quickly and efficiently, reducing lost production time.

“Our technicians are quick to respond to urgent needs, always starting with a thorough assessment to ensure both efficiency and accuracy.”

The cost of downtime in manufacturing is among the highest of any industry. In fact, a 2023 study by Aberdeen’s research found that, on average, downtime can cost a manufacturing company $260,000 per hour. Take into account long lead times for an interim rental solution and a company’s financial health can be deeply affected. Whether downtime is planned or unplanned, having a reliable rental partner is a must for companies in this industry.

COMPLETE PACKAGED SOLUTIONS

FREQUENT CHALLENGES:

  • Deliveries to remote locations
  • Receiving deliveries through rough terrain
  • Getting equipment for projects that cover long distances
  • Avoiding downtime while waiting on equipment

THE GOAL

Provide a complete packaged solution to keep operations in remote or difficult
locations on track.

THE SOLUTION

After experiencing difficulties finding a rental company that could deliver to their job sites, a premier provider of asset integrity testing and certification of United States pipelines reached out to HOLT Industrial Rentals for a solution. Services offered by the customer include everything needed for safe and successful gas and oil projects, such as hydrostatic pressure testing, pneumatic pressure testing, pigging, on and offline chemical cleaning and flaring, among other services. With pipeline projects spanning hundreds of miles, often in remote locations with difficult terrain, they needed a reliable partner for temporary rental equipment solutions.

“Packaging our compressors and desiccant dryers with additional fuel tanks, ready
to head out to the pipeline is just scratching the surface on our custom solutions.”
JIM MCNEESE, OUTSIDE SALES REPRESENTATIVE AT HOLT INDUSTRIAL RENTALS

Without delay, HOLT Industrial Rentals sent out an expert technician to walk the site and determine what equipment would be needed. Following the assessment, a complete rental equipment package was assembled, including a Sullair 1600H air compressor, fuel tank, and a desiccant dryer, all delivered on a transportation trailer that the client could move up and down the length of the pipeline for ease of mobility through rough terrain. Seven of these rental equipment packages were delivered by the HOLT Industrial Rentals team across various locations in the pipeline. Having found a reliable rental partner for their pipeline projects, the client continues to call HOLT Industrial Rentals for all of their rental equipment needs.

HOLT Industrial Rentals Launch

HOLT Industrial Rentals Launches to Support Texas Businesses Ranging from Sports Arenas to Hospitals to Construction Sites

The newest business from industrial- and construction-equipment experts HOLT, will provide solutions-based rentals for increasing power, climate and industrial air needs.

SAN ANTONIO, TX — Nov. 7, 2022 — Seeking to address the growing needs of the $52 billion U.S. equipment rental market, HOLT Industrial Rentals, a HOLT company, launched today to provide specialty industrial equipment solutions throughout Texas.

The increased needs associated with expanding facilities, construction, and climate-based challenges have caused industries — including oil and gas, events, and manufacturing — to turn to full-service rental solutions, as opposed to purchasing and maintaining the equipment themselves. This is on top of the need for temporary equipment to support outages, maintenance, equipment reconditioning and business expansion.

HOLT Industrial Rentals offers turnkey solutions centered around industrial power (power generators, distribution, load banks, etc.), climate (chillers, air conditioners, heaters, etc.), and air (compressors, desiccant dryers, etc.) — often combining multiple elements for one holistic answer to customers’ challenges.

“Our customers are consistently asking for complete solution packages, not just individual pieces of equipment,” said Don Myrick, general manager of HOLT Industrial Rentals. “It eases the burden of running their businesses by offloading the expertise needed to plan out these large, temporary industrial solutions.”

According to a recent study by Koncept Analytics, the U.S. equipment rental market is expected to grow to $64 billion in 2025 at a CAGR of 5.47% from 2021-2025. The study cites that a “rise in party and event planning, growth in oil and gas production, rising employment and rapid urbanization would drive the growth of the market.”

“We’ve seen increased rental requests across our businesses and have always been an organization that pivots to meet the needs of our customers,” said Peter J. Holt, CEO of HOLT. “We understand the importance of rentals across the industrial, construction and facilities equipment industries and the role our services can play in the success of these businesses.”

In addition to the larger scale of operations and increased speed of business, companies are also feeling the strain of increased inclement weather such as freezes, heat waves and natural disasters that can bring business to a halt.

“Temporary industrial solutions are critical to keep productivity going at the pace necessary in today’s business landscape, and we are excited to launch this new company,” said Holt.

TIER 4 POWER GENERATOR

FREQUENT CHALLENGES:

  • Costly equipment upgrades
  • Downtime during transitions
  • Fines while not compliant
  • Lack of capital to purchase
equipment outright

THE GOAL

Implement equipment in compliance with Tier 4 standards to meet the latest environmental regulations.

THE SOLUTION

A Texas based construction company reached out to HOLT Industrial Rentals for a temporary power solution to support their work at the Grindstone Plant, located outside of Fort Worth, TX. They needed to keep the Grindstone project moving while also abiding by EPA regulations, which would require several Tier 4 generators.

“Waiting for permanent equipment to be up and running would have caused serious delays, making temporary power the most efficient and effective solution.”
BRIAN RICE, DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS AT HOLT INDUSTRIAL RENTALS

With a wide range of Tier 4 generators, from 30kW-2000kW, as well as the option of an onsite assessment, HOLT Industrial Rentals proved to be the best solution for their dilemma. Following the assessment of the client’s power challenge, the HOLT Industrial Rentals service technician recommended new Tier 4 XQ2250 and Tier 4i 800kw units, as well as 500kw units to keep the Grindstone Plant fully operational.

HOLT Industrial Rentals implemented an EPA compliant solution optimizing capital expenditures. Taking advantage of HOLT Industrial Rentals’ option for long-term rentals, the Grindstone Plant has multiple Tier 4 generators, ranging in output capacity from 200kw – 2000kw. The solution will remain in place for one year to ensure their project is compliant until a more permanent solution is implemented.

As the population of Texas continues to rise, regulations set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have tightened in an effort to limit pollution from increased human activity. One such EPA regulation mandates that diesel generators meet Tier 4 requirements, using Clean Diesel technology. Tier 4, which is the most stringent regulation, requires a 90% reduction in the emission of Diesel Particulate Matter (DPM) and Nitrogen Oxide (NOx).
